Deer Harbor Marina
About
Deer Harbor Marina occupies a quiet cove on the west side of Orcas Island, tucked away from the main cruising traffic that flows through Friday Harbor and Roche Harbor. That's exactly why regulars love it. The setting is intimate and beautiful — forested hills rise directly from the water, the anchorage is well protected, and the pace is decidedly unhurried. The marina's restaurant overlooks the docks. Nearby Jones Island State Park, a short dinghy ride away, offers excellent hiking, camping, and wildlife viewing. Moran State Park — Orcas Island's crown jewel, with Mount Constitution views and dozens of hiking trails — is about 20 minutes by car from the marina. Deer Harbor is a quieter, more local alternative to the busier San Juan Island ports.

Anchoring in Pacific Northwest Waters
Twelve-foot tides, four-knot current in the passes, kelp on every shoreline, and a wind that can shift through three quadrants while you sleep. PNW anchoring is its own discipline.
