Hoodsport Marina
About
Hoodsport Marina is the one essential fuel and services stop on Hood Canal — 65 miles of fjord-like waterway with almost no other options. Its location near the midpoint of the canal makes it the natural base for exploring both the northern and southern reaches. Hood Canal is famous for its oysters (harvest your own on public tidelands), its spot shrimping season (typically May–June), and its extraordinary clarity — divers regularly report 30-foot visibility. The Olympic Mountains rise immediately to the west. Commercial traffic is essentially zero. The Hoodsport Winery is a short walk from the marina. The town is small and quiet in the way that Hood Canal itself is quiet — which, for many cruisers, is precisely the point.

Anchoring in Pacific Northwest Waters
Twelve-foot tides, four-knot current in the passes, kelp on every shoreline, and a wind that can shift through three quadrants while you sleep. PNW anchoring is its own discipline.
